HOUSE JS

Location: Chile.
Photography: Florencia San Martín.

The house, situated on a hill 40 meters above the level of the sea, has been conceived completely open to the ocean. The L-shape plant permits to open all the internal areas towards the better panoramic views and to protect all the exterior spaces by the wind.
All the public spaces have been placed on the ground floor, while the bedrooms on the upper floor.
The access remains hidden by street and is completed by a series of beams and a small open patio, elements which form a protected semi-exterior space which is a filter between the interior and the exterior, before to access to the entrance hall which enjoys a great view towards the sea.
The spaciousness of the house is due to the double height living room which all the circulation of the upper floor is related to and which is visually connected to the sea through a large window.
Large eaves protect by the west heavy and direct sunlight permitting the presence of large roofed exterior terraces in both floors.
The house takes advantage of the ground slope to create a summer dining room at a lower level than the interior dining room obtaining a panoramic and with no obstacle view in both the dining rooms.
Resuming, the L-shaped house is 180° open to the sea, protecting the exterior by the direct sunlight and the winds, typical aspects of this area.
